BOOK REVIEW: Hidden in Dreams, A Novel by Davis Bunn

In Davis Bunn's sequel to The Book of Dreams, Dr. Elena Burroughs has taken a teaching position with the Atlantic Christian University in Melbourne, Florida. Rachel, the sister of Elena's best friend Miriam who had died the previous summer asks for Elena's help. Rachel's company, SuenaMed in Orlando, is about to release a new ADHD medication for children and adults, and they are experiencing problems related to dreams. A number of those testing the medication are having the same dream about a disastrous worldwide economic downturn.

Elena talks to Reed Thompson, the president of the Atlantic Christian University, a former economic expert with connections in federal government. She also talks to Jacob Rawlings, an ardent critic of her dream theories, who has a patient who is having the dream, and who now believes Elena is correct about what she has said about foretelling dreams.

Elena has the dream. The same one the others had. Included is a strong urge to warn everyone about the pending economic downfall. Since the urge to warn people is so strong, they wonder if telling the public may stop the dreams. At the insistence of Rachel, and the support of Reed and Jacob, Elena becomes the spokesperson for the dreamers. Soon there are more dreams in which the situation worsens. Some banks begin to fail. There is a debate over whether or not the dreams could be messages from God, since, it is argued, only God can see into the future.

You will need to read the book to find out whether or not the dreams are spiritual. Luckily, that won't take you long. This fast-paced book is designed to be read in one sitting.

Though this is a sequel with references to The Book of Dreams, it stands alone and is quite enjoyable without knowledge of the information in the first book.

For recurring dreams I have and will ask for help interpreting:
1)the Holy Spirit through Bible searching of themes and specific content (like the Bereans I want to maker sure it is of God and not the Liar)
2)my Spiritual Director who knows where on the Chartres Labyrinth I stand
3) my Pastor who knows what I am learning
4)my husband who knows where I am
5)my sisters and mother who are my spiritual sisters as well as my blood relatives

Hm...if I had a dream I thought might be foretelling, I would probably do a lot of praying, then consult with my pastor and/or hubby since I respect them both and believe they are men of God. :)

I'm liking Davis' FB page and signing up for his newsletter.

Depending on the nature of the dream, I would probably share it with my husband, son and possibly brother to see what they thought of it. If I felt the need for further guidance I would talk to my pastor. I also might ask a few close friends what they thought.

This book sounds very interesting. It would be great to win it. My interest is up because I keep hearing so many good reports about this author!

What an intriguing storyline! I would definitely ask our daughter to help me interpret my dream because we're so tuned in to each other. I liked Davis's FB Author Page and I'm going to go check out his books on Amazon.
Thanks for a great interview!

Probably pray first, and also consult my pastor, but since I rarely remember my dreams, I'd really wonder what was going on. I'm liking Davis' FB page and signing up for his newsletter.

I dreamed that I won one of Davis Bunn's books -- just being silly!!! But would really like to win. Many women in my family, including me, have premonitions, so I have learned to keep dreams to myself.

Thanks for entering Anonymous, but if you win, I'll need a way to contact you.
